All calculation functions use these same principles.
Select the base line, the values from the base line may be used, or other calculating values may be defined. The base line can be either straight line, breakline or road alignment.
You can show the point or points by using the group command. The calculating values, which you have selected from the calculating window, are transferred to a results file.
When you input new values for the calculation parameters, the cross is moved on the screen showing the location of the new point. The XYZ value is updated automatically on the screen. Give the codes of the point and press Save, the point is saved to the active element.
You can edit the calculation parameters normally, but simple calculating functions (+ - / *) are also available. For example, if a-distance is 6.400, you can write after that / 2, when the new point is calculated it uses a-distance 3.200. The new a-distance is used immediately, and is displayed until you touch another field.
Parameters can be changed using the browse buttons beside value fields. A menu list Calculating parameters is displayed, choose a value from the list. All the values in the list are updated every time a calculation is performed. These values may be viewed without changes being made.
Z-coordinate or any single calculation parameter selected in the first tab page can be locked. Its value does not change when new points are pointed or other values are edited. Technically the effect of locking is same as pointing new point and then manually editing the parameter value.
Results are shown on screen and saved to the Calculation result file. The same values chosen from the dialog, are also saved to the result file. N.B. you can choose an empty field (or fields) if you only want to calculate one or two values.
If the current calculation values are calculated from existing point, you can save the values to point as attributes by clicking the point while pressing Alt. Only the values visible in dialog are stored. Attribute names are documented in calculating parameters.
